Thanks to a generous $10,000 grant from Capital One, HMFI is able to expand its products and services to meet the financial needs of the D.C. community. This product is unique and timely due to its small loan size and large credit-building potential. According to Justine Petersen, a St. Louis, MO, based MFI, the average American with a good credit score saves $250,000 during their lifetime. HMFI and its partner, Capital One, seek to provide a service to solve this pressing problem of poor credit in the D.C. community. The Credit Builder Program combines individualized credit counseling with a comprehensive loan package to deliver the maximum short-term credit boost and training on how to manage long-term credit health.
